Running GYC Automator/G.Creator on Windows Vista
In Windows Vista UAC (User Account Control) may prevent GYC Automator/G.Creator to run properly even you are logged-in as Administrator and GYC Automator/G.Creator shows following warning.
If you are getting this error then you need to release some permissions to GYC Automator that UAC is blocking. There are two ways to do it-
1. Run GYC Automator/G.Creator with Administrative privileges
2. Or grant write/modify permission to files in GYC Automator installation folder.
Note: Instructions below are written using GYC Automator. The process will be exactly same for G.Creator.
Running GYC Automator with Administrative privileges
Note: You must have administrative privileges to take following actions.
1. Open 'Windows Explorer' and navigate to GYC Automator installation folder. If installed at default location then it will be 'C:\Program Files\ADDiFF.com\GYC Automator'.
2. In right pane, right click on 'GYCAutomator.exe' to open context menu and then select 'Properties'.
3. In property dialog, go to Compatibility tab, under privilege level CHECK the box saying 'Run this program as administrator'.
4. Click OK to close properties dialog.
5. Close windows explorer and run GYC Automator, now you should not get that 'Write access denied for files' dialog.
Granting write/modify permission to files in GYC Automator installation folder
Note: You must have administrative privileges to change file permissions.
1. Open 'Windows Explorer' and navigate to GYC Automator installation folder. If installed at default location then it will be 'C:\Program Files\ADDiFF.com\GYC Automator'.
2. Now set permission for files
A. In right pane, right click on 'GYCData.mdb' file to open context menu and then select 'Properties'.
B. In property dialog, go to 'Security' tab and click 'Edit' button.
C. Now you will see permissions dialog. Here select Users from Group or user names list. In Permissions for Users list, check the box in Allow column against to MODIFY and WRITE privilege (make sure you checked right box, it is important).
D. Now click Ok, again Ok to close dialog boxes
3. Repeat step 2A to 2D with 'GYCLog.txt' and 'Launcher.config' files too.
4. Close windows explorer and run GYC Automator. Now you should not get that 'Write access denied for files' dialog.
